Vision Engineering launches next-generation digital microscope

Vision Engineering, a leader in optical inspection and metrology, is releasing its EVO Cam AURA digital microscope platform for industrial inspection and quality control. Succeeding EVO Cam II, EVO Cam AURA moves the range to true 4K imaging and brings inspection, measurement and reporting into one continuous, on-screen workflow.

What’s new

4K imaging resolves fine detail – hairline cracks, cell boundaries, contamination, pad geometry – at the level modern components demand. Bespoke optics and optical zoom take operators from overview to close detail without a lens change, while integrated autofocus and focus stacking bring uneven or complex parts into sharp focus.

The biggest shift is software: AURA software puts zoom, focus, lighting, image control, capture, measurement and analysis in one interface, retaining operators in the workflow from live image to documented result. Intelligent auto-recognition keeps magnification and measurement scaling correct, while ‘lighting recall’ restores settings when the ring light changes. Importantly, metadata-based comparison can match live images to a golden sample.

Built-in productivity tools include pulse, curtain and synchronised comparison modes, supported by customisable go/no-go overlays built directly into presets. Annotation and calibrated measurement sit in the same interface, so images automatically carry annotations, measurements, metadata and timestamps.

EVO Cam AURA comes in three models – 4K Touch, 4K and HD (keypad controlled) – with a choice of illumination, objectives, stands and connectivity. It operates stand-alone with no PC required, connects via Wi-Fi or LAN, and supports live streaming for remote oversight. Secure variants of all three models suit restricted environments where wireless connectivity, Bluetooth or removable storage is not permittable.

Applications aplenty

In automotive and precision engineering, customisable presets cut changeover time on high-mix lines. In aerospace and defence, metadata- and timestamp-embedded images create audit-ready records, with secure variants available.

In medical device manufacturing, consistent, repeatable inspection supports components such as catheters and stents, with traceable records saved direct to network. In research and laboratory, shareable enhancement controls keep results consistent between sessions and sites, with streaming for real-time discussion between locations.
