TaeguTec gets a grip on hydraulic clamping

The new T-HYCHUCK from TaeguTec is a new hydraulic chuck line that the company says delivers enhanced clamping force and precision across a wide range of machining applications. A major upgrade on its predecessor, the T-HYCHUCK is fully compatible with the existing product range from TaeguTec.
For manufacturers demanding consistent surface quality, dimensional accuracy and process reliability, TaeguTec is recommending its new T-HYCHUCK tool clamping solution. Featuring a redesigned internal hydraulic mechanism with helical groove geometry and a precision rubber piston actuator, the T-HYCHUCK family achieves a standard runout of 3 µm at 3xD with 5 µm runout on IDs from 25 to 32 mm diameter, and 7 µm runout on tool lengths of 150 mm or more. This runout and clamping force enhances tool life and reduces vibration.
The range is structured around three distinct variants to address different machining environments. The new THCG (General type) is suitable for high-precision drilling and end-mill finishing operations, offering strong clamping characteristics and simple tool changeovers. The THCS (slim type) is specifically for narrow, deep-cavity work and situations where interference with the workpiece can be problematic. It’s especially recommended for mould and die finishing when manufacturers use ball-nose end mills with long-overhang conditions. Completing the range is the THCR (adjustable type), which provides radial runout adjustment via a set screw, delivering precision performance.
All three variants are manufactured to a hardness of 58 to 60 HRc and balanced to G2.5 up to 15,000 rpm (20,000 rpm for HSK-A variants). Bore sizes span from 6 to 32 mm diameter across a comprehensive programme of spindle interface options that includes BT30, BT40, BT50, DIN69871 (size 40 and 50), HSK-A 63, HSK-A 100, HSK-E 40 and HSK-E 50. This expansive availability ensures the TaeguTec T-HYCHUCK integrates readily with virtually every machining centre platform.
The T-HYCHUCK is a direct phase-in replacement for TaeguTec’s previous THC hydraulic chuck line and is fully compatible with existing tooling within that programme. Stocks of the outgoing range will deplete, with customers advised to transition to the new specification at the earliest opportunity. To ensure optimum performance, TaeguTec recommends the use of cylindrical shank tools to h6 tolerance, correct clamping screw torque of 5.5 Nm across all bore sizes, and adherence to minimum and maximum tool insertion depths.
