Scott Ford appointed Managing Director of GTK

Scott Ford has been appointed as Managing Director at GTK UK Ltd, succeeding John Morath, who is retiring after leading the company since 2013.

Scott (pictured) comes to GTK from sister company, Review Display Systems (RDS), which GTK acquired in 2022 and where he has served as Managing Director for the past two years.

“Having worked closely with the GTK team during my time at RDS, I’ve seen first-hand the strength of the business, its people and the capabilities we have across the two companies,” comments Scott. “There’s a real opportunity to build on the strengths of both GTK and RDS and bring our capabilities closer together to serve our customers even better. By combining RDS’ expertise in displays and embedded systems with GTK’s manufacturing capabilities, we can continue to develop our integrated manufacturing services offering and support customers across more of their product journey.”

Scott brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in manufacturing and electronic engineering across a range of sectors. Most recently, as Managing Director of RDS, he was responsible for the company’s strategy and direction, with a particular focus on developing its technical capabilities, customer partnerships and the delivery of integrated technology solutions.

As Scott takes on his new role, John is retiring after 13 years as Managing Director, marking the culmination of a 34-year career with GTK.

“After over three decades, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and of the business that GTK has become,” states John. “I’ve been fortunate to lead the company through some major milestones, from our management buyout and the opening of GTK Romania through to joining the Volex Group. The business has changed enormously during that time, but the commitment of our people and the relationships we’ve built with our customers have remained at the heart of GTK. Scott brings a great deal of experience to the role, and I’m excited to see where he and the team take the company next.”

Alan Taylor, Group HR Director at Volex, adds: “Scott’s appointment strengthens both GTK and RDS within the wider Volex Group. Bringing the two companies closer together will allow them to make better use of their complementary capabilities, expertise and resources, while continuing to deliver on the Volex group’s overall commitments to its customers and stakeholders.

“I’d also like to thank John for his outstanding contribution to GTK over the past 34 years and for the leadership he’s provided throughout several important periods in the company’s development.”
