Rainford Precision secures Alzmetall partnership

Rainford Precision has commenced an exciting partnership as an agent with Alzmetall, bringing the German manufacturer’s drilling and machining centre technology to manufacturers across the UK and Ireland. The partnership combines Alzmetall’s German engineering heritage with Rainford Precision’s application expertise, giving customers direct access to productive, precise and reliable machines.
Offering high levels of build quality, rigidity and accuracy, Alzmetall machines are manufactured in Germany to standards that have earned the brand a strong reputation across Europe.
Central to the Alzmetall offering now available from Rainford Precision is the GS Series of high-performance machining centres. The range features an intelligent carriage travel system built around a box-in-box design with a symmetrical structure and monoblock cross slide.
The GS Series introduces five size variants: GS 600, GS 800, GS 1000, GS 1200 and GS1400. As the nomenclature suggests, the machines have the capabilities to produce components with diameters ranging from 600 to 1,400 mm. The machines cater for everything from small-part machining in a compact envelope with exceptional kinematics to large, robust workhorses for particularly large and challenging five-axis machining applications. Furthermore, each machine size designation has up to four different variants for manufacturers to choose from.
Offering robust structural performance, the carriage travel system also incorporates the Z-axis slide and spindle directly mounted inside the carriage body to enhance rigidity further. Multiple guideways in all linear axes, together with single or double ball screws driven by servomotors, deliver the precision and structural rigidity that demanding applications require.
The SDK NC swivel/rotary table are key features that offer genuine application flexibility, with gear or torque drive technology available to suit the application. For five-axis machining, the economical gear drive delivers reliable performance.
For highly dynamic oscillating tasks that demand rapid response and superior positional accuracy, direct torque motors provide the answer. This application-led approach to machine construction and table specification is a hallmark of the Alzmetall brand. The manufacturer matches machine capability to customer requirements rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all solution.
For larger or more complex workpieces, Alzmetall’s patented ALZMETALL-Specific Gantry Concept (ASGK) assigns all three linear motion axes directly to the machine gantry. A bridge gantry configuration is also available, with fixed uprights and a movable crossbeam. This configuration provides a structurally rigid platform capable of accommodating substantial components and heavy-duty machining, delivering productivity without compromising the precision and repeatability that define every machine in the range.
