Partnership strengthens multi-material metal parts production at scale

DEEP Manufacturing and Fortius Metals have begun a collaboration to build a multi-material metal cylinder. The project will use DEEP Manufacturing’s synchronised multi-robot wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) system, a form of industrial 3D printing that uses welding to build large metal parts layer by layer.

The goal is to demonstrate that multi-material metal deposition can be executed with the precision, repeatability and process control that true production environments demand. Work of this kind has, until now, largely been confined to the research environment. The project represents an exciting step forward for the advanced manufacturing sector.
