Naval Commander Commends Suffolk Firm On Significant Contribution
Staff at a thriving Suffolk factory facility have been praised by Commodore Robert Bellfield CBE, following his visit to their headquarters.
As Naval Regional Commander and a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Cdre Bellfield was welcomed to the Wickham Market home of Roland Group, which is the parent company for both Roland Plastics and Electronic Terminations.
The firm has been actively carrying out a range of product manufacture, specifically serving the Royal Navy, Ministry of Defence and wider markets.
In particular, Roland Group creates cables used on various Royal Navy vessels, and various military munitions packaging, transport and stowage solutions.
Cdre Bellfield, who was educated at Framlingham College and joined Dartmouth Royal Naval College in 1983, returned to live in Suffolk, and continues to be a great advocate for the county’s businesses.
He was escorted around the Wickham Market site of Roland Group by directors Ben Emerson and Jonathan Paul, and was quick to commend the firm and its staff on their contribution to the Royal Naval and defence operations in the UK.
He said: “I am pleased to support and recognise local businesses who contribute to the Royal Navy’s operational capability – and clearly, Roland Group is playing its part in that.
“The company’s staff are to be applauded for their work, and I was fascinated by the enormous portfolio of work being carried out by such an innovative Suffolk business.
“It was a pleasure to meet the team and I look forward to seeing more exciting work from them in the future.”
Mr Emerson said of the visit: “We feel privileged that Commodore Robert Bellfield was able to join us for a visit, and were thrilled to receive such positive feedback from him about our work across various sectors and product solutions.
“As a business which had such humble family-run beginnings in Suffolk, we are extremely proud of our reach and our operational capability, and we look forward to being able to share more updates with Cdre Bellfield in the months to come.”
Roland Group has a total of 25 staff and is the parent company of Roland Plastics and Electronic Terminations.
As well as producing a number of product solutions for military uses, it also has a significant reputation in the production of outdoor surface solutions, and for innovative lighting.
