Mercedes F1 expands carbon removal strategy

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has commenced a major expansion of its global carbon removals portfolio, marking a significant step in its net-zero engineering strategy. The multi-year initiative introduces seven new projects across six technologies, including direct air capture and biochar, targeting emissions that cannot be eliminated through efficiency improvements.
The portfolio spans regions including the UK, US and Brazil, aligning with the Formula 1 calendar to maximise local environmental impact.
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team aims to remove around 18,900 tCO₂e as part of its ‘Race Team Control Net Zero 2030’ target, reinforcing its position as a leader in applying advanced carbon engineering solutions within high-performance motorsport.
