Mecof Powermill G3 PC3: Robust structure without compromising agility

Although Mecof designed the Powermill G3 PC3 to meet the needs of customers with limited space but a strong focus on large-scale production, the machine is in no way inferior to its larger counterparts. Initially built for an Italian customer involved in general mechanics, Mecof says the machine stands out for its ability to combine structural robustness and compact dimensions with a large working area, high performance and Industry 4.0 digital solutions.

Compact but capable
With travel strokes of 8,000 x 4,500 x 1,500 mm in the X, Y and Z axis respectively, the Powermill G3 PC3 is intended for the machining of large components. The 8,000 x 3,000 mm work surface, with load capacity of up to 15,000kg/m² (class II DIN 876), ensures maximum stability even during demanding operations.

At the heart of the machine is the universal bi-rotary head with automatic micron-level positioning, 38 kW of power, torque up to 615 Nm and a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm. The head features an ISO 50 tool attachment. This design allows for a wide range of machining operations, from heavy roughing to high-precision finishing.

The picture is completed by a 60-position chain tool changer, chip evacuation system, cooling system and advanced solutions for the latest generation of tool and workpiece control. Specifically, the tool changer is fixed to the crossbeam shoulder. This configuration, combined with the sliding exchange arm, ensures speed and reliability in tool-change operations, optimising cycle times.

Chip evacuation with longitudinally arranged ramp conveyors is quick and smooth. The cooling system, with dual delivery (near the spindle and through the spindle), ensures tool efficiency and longevity, supported by a multi- stage filtration system (up to 25 µm).
