LK Metrology unveils CAMIO 2026 with Renishaw REVO five-axis integration

LK Metrology is unveiling a major new release of its proprietary CAMIO software for programming, analysis and reporting on co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM). The latest CAMIO 2026 R1 version advances multi-sensor metrology with comprehensive support for Renishaw’s REVO five-axis scanning probe system.
The development enables manufacturers to combine the speed and flexibility of REVO’s synchronised five-axis motion with CAMIO’s advanced inspection capabilities for complex tasks, strengthening the CMM software’s position as one of industry’s most versatile platforms. It’s capable of managing bridge, horizontal arm and gantry CMMs, together with conventional touch-trigger probes, analogue scanning probes, laser scanners and now REVO.
Within CAMIO, users can program and execute REVO inspection routines directly, enabling full use of advanced, multi-axis measurement strategies such as sweep scanning and head touches. The software optimises probe motion and measurement paths to reduce inspection time while maintaining measurement accuracy. Its intuitive interface and offline programming capabilities simplify inspection program development, allowing users to create, verify and optimise routines before deploying them on the CMM, thereby improving productivity and minimising machine downtime.
Jonathan Rich, CAMIO Product Manager states: “Our goal has always been to give manufacturers the freedom to choose the right metrology hardware for every application, without changing the way they program and inspect parts. Support for the REVO five-axis system is another important step in delivering an open metrology platform that adapts to the user’s manufacturing environment. Our customers can now unlock the full capabilities of REVO five-axis scanning probes, while continuing to benefit from CAMIO’s familiar workflows and inspection capabilities.”
Some CMM OEMs do not offer a full range of machines, others do not offer REVO and most major software houses cannot provide such inspection machines at all. LK Metrology says it therefore stands out by being able to supply a complete solution consisting of the five-axis scanning software alongside a broad range of REVO-enabled CMMs. This gives manufacturers a single source for high-speed, high-accuracy, five-axis inspection, reducing integration complexity while ensuring optimal performance and support.
CAMIO’s plug-and-play interoperability with REVO-equipped CMMs enables manufacturers to deploy a single inspection software platform across mixed-brand CMMs, providing a consistent programming and inspection environment regardless of the machine being used. This capability simplifies deployment across multiple machines and sites, reduces software lock-in and maximises the value of existing metrology assets.
Compatibility with any REVO-equipped CMM is achieved through the industry-standard I++/DME client/server architecture, with CAMIO operating as the I++ client over a standard TCP/IP network and communicating directly with the I++ server of the UCC controller. This standards-based approach eliminates the need for proprietary software or hardware modifications, making integration straightforward while preserving existing metrology infrastructure.
