Lantek introduces two new features to boost efficiency

Lantek, a global specialist in software solutions for the sheet metal industry, has introduced two new features in version 45 of its Lantek Expert CAD/CAM software, aimed at simplifying the design of components with complex edge geometries and improving cutting efficiency.
The latest update to Lantek Expert introduces enhanced functionality for bevel machining in line with increasing demand for automation, flexible nesting, and multi-angle processing.
The first innovation allows users to work with both standard bevels and 3D bevels on the same part from the drawing module. Previously, users had to choose between variables separately, which required simpler geometries. With this improved functionality, both bevel types can be combined within the same components, making it easier to design parts with more complex edges.
The second new feature is a shared cutting function for parts with Y bevels. This improves efficiency in Y-bevel cutting by reducing material consumption, waste and machining time. When a part with a Y bevel is placed next to an existing component, the system will check whether both workpieces can be cut simultaneously. If possible, it will automatically adjust the distance between the parts so that both bevel edges are cut in a single operation. This new capability also extends to V joints.
Adam Ball, UK Commercial Director at Lantek, comments: “This new feature simplifies component design. Users no longer have to choose between constant or variable bevels, but can use both strategies together, designing components with more complex edges. These enhancements are aligned with current market trends toward comprehensive automation, more flexible and reliable automatic nesting and advanced strategies for multi-angle machining.”
He adds: “These two new features in Lantek Expert represent the way forward in automated, intelligent and connected manufacturing, an area in which Lantek continues to support companies in sheet metal fabrication.”
Bevels are used to improve the durability of welds and increase structural strength by enlarging the contact area between two parts. In sheet metal fabrication, they eliminate the need for additional processing steps after cutting.
The new capabilities in Lantek Expert V45 reflect current developments in sheet metal manufacturing. With these additions, Lantek Expert continues expanding its CAD/CAM capabilities for CNC programming and complex cutting operations in sheet metal fabrication.
