J&S Engineering bringing sustainable manufacturing solutions to MACH

With over 35 years of experience in the UK machine tool industry, J&S Engineering has developed a streamlined range of advanced technologies for swarf management and machining support. Exhibiting for the seventh consecutive time at MACH (NEC Birmingham, 20-24 April), the company will showcase solutions for manufacturers looking to adopt new processes or upgrade existing systems, including swarf management, pre-production bar preparation and improved part collection from bar-fed CNC lathes.

Visitors can see how these machines enhance existing production and machine shop set ups. The focus is on improving efficiency, supporting sustainability goals and helping to manage rising raw material costs.

Throughout the five day event, the J&S Engineering team will offer guidance on how its products can improve sustainability, generate cost savings through more efficient operations, reduce swarf volume by up to 90% and increase its recycling value by up to 50%. Systems can recover up to 95% of coolant and lubricants for reuse, briquette swarf in large or small quantities, support lights-out running and enable safe component handling. Solutions also include bar preparation equipment and machine cleaning systems that separate fluids from chips for reuse.

In total, 11 machines will feature on the stand. These include two swarf briquetting machines from Höcker Polytechnik, the iSwarf 440 and the compact iSwarf 50, now with a built in crusher. A FAMA automatic swarf centrifuge will also be on display, alongside two manual swarf spinners from Rimann AG. Five British-designed bar chamfering machines and component collectors will demonstrate automated material preparation and part handling, while a Sofraper’s Optimoil vacuum system for efficient machine cleaning will also be on show.

Three new component collector models will debut at MACH. Enhancements to the RPH500 and RPH600 include automatic oil fill and drain functionality, while the new RPH300 has been developed for smaller components.
J&S Engineering continues to focus on practical, cost-effective automation for turned-parts manufacturers. With increasing pressure from rising material costs and sustainability requirements, the company provides solutions that help reduce waste, save time and lower carbon impact.
