Exchangeable-head PCD cutters deliver faster aluminium milling

German tool manufacturer Horn has expanded its polycrystalline diamond (PCD) milling programme with the DM50 series, an exchangeable-head system for cost-effective aluminium machining where cycle times are critical.

The design delivers soft cutting and high surface finish, with UK and Ireland supply through Horn Cutting Tools Ltd.

The DM50 offers low wear and high versatility. Both the head and PCD inserts, as well as an intermediate sleeve allowing variable tool lengths, are replaceable.

Cutters can be rapidly adapted to different corner radii and cutting heights. Precise head positioning ensures accurate milling without offset adjustments, speeding set-up and reducing operating costs.
