Charles Burrell appointed as Head of Manufacturing at Duncan & Toplis

Duncan & Toplis has appointed Charles Burrell, previously the company’s Assurance Director, as its new Head of Manufacturing, further strengthening the firm’s commitment to supporting one of the Midlands’ most important industries.

Charles succeeds Julie Chapman, who is stepping down from the role after two years. During her tenure, Julie played a central role in building the firm’s reputation as a trusted adviser to manufacturing businesses across the Midlands. She’ll continue to support clients and remain an important part of the business.

The appointment of Charles, based at the company’s Derby office, comes at a significant time for the region’s manufacturing sector. Derby has long been recognised as one of the UK’s most important manufacturing centres, with a rich industrial heritage spanning rail, engineering and aerospace. Today, the city remains home to major manufacturers and a thriving supply chain network, making it a key growth area for Duncan & Toplis as it continues to expand its presence across the Midlands.

From advanced engineering and aerospace to food production and industrial manufacturing, businesses across the region are navigating rising costs, workforce challenges, supply chain disruption and ongoing economic uncertainty. Duncan & Toplis continues to invest in specialist sector expertise to help these businesses adapt, grow and plan for the future.

“The Midlands has always played a critical role in UK manufacturing and Derby is a fantastic example of that heritage continuing to evolve,” comments Charles. “It remains a hugely important centre for innovation, engineering and industrial growth. Manufacturers are facing real challenges, but there’s also significant opportunities for businesses that are prepared to adapt and invest. I’m delighted to take on the role of Head of Manufacturing and look forward to continuing to work closely with clients across the region and helping them navigate what comes next.”

Damon Brain, CEO at Duncan & Toplis, adds: “Manufacturing is a vital sector for both Duncan & Toplis and the wider Midlands economy. We have deep roots in the region and a long history of supporting manufacturing businesses through every stage of growth. The appointment of Charles reflects our continued investment in this sector and our ambition to further strengthen our expertise across Derby and the wider Midlands. I would also like to thank Julie for her outstanding leadership and contribution over the past years.”

The appointment forms part of Duncan & Toplis’ wider growth strategy as part of Kinbrook Group, which continues to invest in sector expertise, regional expansion and specialist advisory services across the UK.
