AMB 2026 will provide the launchpad for improved KASTO bandsaw

To operate productively and cost-effectively in the metalworking industry, businesses must manage workpiece movement safely, efficiently and intelligently. KASTO will be making this a core area of focus at AMB on stand B21/B24 in hall 8. The company will emphasise holistic solutions that eliminate operational bottlenecks and demonstrate how storage, sawing and automation can merge into seamless material flow.

A highlight will be the debut of the new KASTOssb vertical bandsaw. Building on the existing KASTOssb A2 automatic bandsaw, it has a more compact, user-friendly and versatile design. A major upgrade is the switch to an electromechanical saw feed, allowing the use of a demand-driven hydraulic system to avoid continuous hydraulic pump operation, reducing energy consumption and lowering noise levels. Hydraulics are retained for workpiece clamping and blade tensioning.

Furthermore, newly designed rear hinged doors minimise the machine’s footprint, while enabling easy access for maintenance. The chip conveyor can now be mounted on either the left or right side, giving users greater flexibility when considering shop-floor layouts. The versatile bandsaw cuts tubes, profiles, structural steel and hard-to-machine materials. Compatible with carbide blades and equipped for bundle-cutting, KASTO says the machine excels at demanding tasks in tight working spaces.

The new KASTOssb integrates seamlessly with the company’s second trade show highlight, the KASTOcenter compact. This machine combines automated sawing, tower storage, robot-assisted feeding/removal and downstream machining into an end-to-end system from a single source. The result is interconnected, 24/7 operation in minimal space, offering a modular, future-proof automation solution tailored for mid-sized manufacturing companies.

With the latest KASTO ProControl, sawing operations become faster, more intuitive and more transparent. The system features a clear dashboard showing live machine status and offers a ‘Simple Mode’ for less experienced operators. Built-in material libraries, cutting plans, intelligent optimisation and diagnostic tools help minimise downtime and material waste. First introduced on the KASTOwin series, ProControl is now standard on the KASTOssb series and will roll out across other models.

KASTO will also demonstrate camera-assisted technology that automates measurement and positioning when sawing linear guide rails. By detecting a pre-drilled hole pattern inside a circular saw, the system calculates precise cut positions and executes them automatically. It minimises manual intervention, maximises repeatability and streamlines production.

Other sawing machines on show will include the KASTOwin bandsaw designed for automated series production of flexible batch sizes, and the KASTOtec bandsaw, suitable for the heavy-duty cutting of large cross-sections and tough materials.
