All-electric tube hone: A game changer

Sunnen Products is hailing the ongoing success of its HTA tube hone. With more than 375 machines sold worldwide, Sunnen says the HTA represents a significant advancement in tube honing technology, particularly for hydraulic cylinder repair and other precision applications.
Unlike traditional hydraulic systems, the HTA is fully electric, offering a cleaner, quieter and more compact alternative. This modern design not only eliminates oil leaks but also enhances control and accuracy during bore reversal – critical for consistent, high-quality finishes.
At the heart of the machine is a Siemens servo stroker motor with belt drive, enabling smooth, quiet operation with variable stroking speeds from 1.5 to 27 m/min, and spindle speeds from 20 to 300 rpm. A programmable auto tool feed system increases consistency, while a 208-litre paper media coolant filtration unit helps extend the life of abrasives by maintaining clean coolant.
Operator convenience is prioritised with a swivelling control station, colour touchscreen, and multilingual interface. Additional features include a universal V-block work-holding system, load meter and compatibility with ANR-275 tooling, reducing costs for existing users.
