Advanced Rework Technology inspires students at National Manufacturing Day 2025

Advanced Rework Technology (ART), an independent IPC-accredited training provider, recently joined forces with Jaltek, a UK-based electronics manufacturer with over 35 years of experience in designing and producing electronic products, to deliver hands-on workshops for students during National Manufacturing Day 2025.
The event, aimed at showcasing career opportunities within the manufacturing sector, provided students and educators with a practical introduction to electronics assembly. During the sessions, students constructed and soldered a ‘dancing’ LED circuit under the guidance of ART’s Master IPC Trainers Ben James and Mark Harvey.
Claire Mackay, Jaltek Business Development Manager, says: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome such a bright and enthusiastic group of students to Jaltek as part of the recent National Manufacturing Day. Days like this are vital to shine a light on the exciting and diverse opportunities within electronics manufacturing and give students the chance to really see what a career in this industry looks like. One of the highlights of the day was the hands-on workshops run by ART, which gave students the chance to experience, first-hand, the level of skill and precision involved in our sector. The level of engagement and curiosity we saw throughout the day was so incredibly encouraging.”
She continues: “At Jaltek, we’re dedicated to supporting the next wave of talented workers and we’re so proud to be able to champion initiatives like this. Inspiring and investing in the next generation of engineers is key to addressing the industry’s skills gap and securing the future of UK manufacturing.”
Debbie McDade, Managing Director of ART, adds: “Seeing the students fully engage in the practical sessions was incredibly rewarding. Workshops like these give young people a real insight into the precision and technical skill required in electronics manufacturing. Helping the next generation of engineers build their skills, knowledge and confidence is something we take great pride in at ART. Events like National Manufacturing Day are a perfect way to encourage that.”
The collaboration between Jaltek and ART successfully showcased the practical side of electronics manufacturing, giving students the chance to apply real industry techniques in a supportive environment. The sessions not only strengthened their understanding of the sector but also highlighted the rewarding career opportunities available across UK manufacturing.
